French Senate tackles tough crime bill

PARIS, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- The French Senate begins examining Tuesday a tough and controversial anti-crime bill that would send prostitutes and squatters to prison, and ban aggressive beggars from the street. The crime bill has been denounced by an array of leftist lawmakers and social groups.
