Lockerbie bomber appeals to Europe court

LONDON, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Libyan spy Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi, jailed for life in Scotland for the bombing of an American jetliner over Lockerbie in 1988, is appealing his conviction to the European Court of Human Rights, the British Broadcasting Corp. reported Thursday. The explosion that brought down Pan Am Flight 103 killed 270 people.
