Strong earthquake hits Papua New Guinea

GOLDEN, Colo., Sept. 8 (UPI) -- A 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck Papua New Guinea early Monday morning local time, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The center of the earthquake was centered 60 miles northwest of the northern coastal city of Wewak, said Heidi Koontz, a spokeswoman for the USGS in Golden, Colo.
