Army helicopter missing in Korea

WASHINGTON, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- An AH-64A Apache helicopter was missing early Thursday morning in the mountains of South Korea in bad weather in South Korea and has not yet been located, according to the U.S. Army and Pentagon officials.

The aircraft, attached to the 6th Cavalry Brigade, was declared missing at 12:25 a.m.; an immediate search by Army aviation personnel on the flight route failed to locate the aircraft or crew. The helicopter was flying north to south between two U.S. military bases.

The Korean Rescue Coordination Center joined the search at 11 a.m. when weather conditions cleared.
