LONDON, July 23 (UPI) -- Archbishop of Wales Rowan Williams, a liberal theologian with a reputation for both charisma and controversy, was confirmed Tuesday as the next archbishop of Canterbury, the 104th in an ecclesiastical line dating to 597 A.D. British Prime Minister Tony Blair chose Williams from a final list of two candidates.
