Report: Few African kids attend school

PARIS, April 11 (UPI) -- Only four out of every 10 young children in sub-Saharan Africa attend primary school, according to a new U.N. study that paints a bleak picture of the continent's education, which is stunted by warfare, AIDS, poverty, and spiraling population growth. Access to secondary school education is even less widespread, according to the statistical office of the Paris-based U.N. Education and Scientific Organization, which released the report Friday.
