Libya angry at loss of Lockerbie appeal

TRIPOLI, Libya, March 14 (UPI) -- Libya reacted angrily Thursday to the Scottish appeal judges decision confirming the life sentence of a Libyan intelligence agent convicted in the 1988 Lockerbie air disaster. In a statement, the Libyan Foreign Ministry said Abdul Baset Ali al-Megrahi, 49, was innocent, and the appeal court ruling was "a political decision imposed by certain parties and a new humiliation for Scottish justice."
