Abdullah: "Significant progress" reached

KABUL, Afghanistan, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Northern Alliance Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah said Saturday that the U.N.-sponsored talks in Germany are close to reaching a deal toward a power-sharing solution in Afghanistan. "My understanding at this stage is that significant progress has been made toward the formation of an interim or transitional authority," Abdullah told a news conference.
