Taliban: U.S. rescues Pashtun leader

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- U.S. special forces have rescued a prominent Afghan tribal leader from the clutches of the Taliban, Afghan officials said Saturday. "We believe that U.S. helicopters have ferried out Hamid Karzai from his hideout in southern Afghanistan," the Taliban ambassador to Pakistan, Mullah Abdus Salaam Zaeef, told journalists in Islamabad.
