The flow rate from the Breagh field came from the first three wells brought into production, the company said.
"Breagh is very important in the context of achieving our company's growth targets as this field will make a major contribution towards boosting RWE Dea's gas production," Thomas Rappuhn, the company's chief executive officer, said in a statement Monday.
RWE said it estimates the field holds as much as 699 billion cubic feet of natural gas reserves.
The company said it confirmed the presence of commercial volumes of natural gas from Breagh in 2011. It said peak production of 141 billion cubic feet of gas per day should be achieved by early next year and average production from 2014 through 2018 should settle at 38 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.
The British government approved operational plans for Breagh last year.
