The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate said production of oil, natural gas liquids and condensate for June was 11 percent less than the previous month.
NPD said daily liquid production for June was 1.3 million barrels of oil, 297,000 barrels of natural gas liquids and 69,000 barrels of condensate. The agency said oil production for the year was 2 percent less than expected.
The NPD in June said eight discoveries were made so far this year on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
Last week, the agency said it had seen a surge in interest from energy companies examining prospects in its offshore energy sector. It said seven oil companies have submitted requests for information about the prospects in the Barents Sea and for the waters surrounding the arctic volcanic island Jan Mayen.
NPD offered no reason Wednesday for the lower-than-expected production figures for June. It said last month, however, the rate of new discoveries was below average.
