TEL AVIV, Israel, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Israeli energy company Delek Group announced that preliminary work on engineering for a floating LNG project for the Tamar and Dalit fields was complete.

Delek Group said work in the offshore Tamar field was moving to the front-end engineering design stage after completing start-up work for that and the adjoining Dalit field. Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co. will work on the $15 million FEED stages.

"The agreement has been set for two years, or until the date of the final investment decision of the FLNG project, whichever is earlier," Delek said in a statement.

The company said LNG production is planned for more than 3 million tons per year.

Delek Group and Noble Energy, a company with headquarters in the United States, are among the major offshore players in the Israeli natural gas sector. They've discovered enough gas in the Tamar and Leviathan fields to last the country 150 years.

In March, Delek suggested Israel would need more than $10 billion worth of export infrastructure for the natural gas.
