RWE extends Polish wind footprint

ESSEN, Germany, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- A division of German energy company RWE announced it took control of a 30-megawatt wind farm in Poland.

RWE Innogy said it took control over the Taciewo onshore wind farm from Spanish manufacturing company Gamesa, which developed the site.

The German company said the commissioning of Taciewo brings its installed wind capacity in Poland to 152 MW.

"Taciewo and 152 MW now mark the midpoint of our Polish development targets," RWE Innogy Chief Executive Officer Hans Bunting said in a statement. "We intend to operate about 300 MW in Poland in 2015."

The onshore wind farm can generate enough wind-derived electricity to meet the energy demands of more than 32,500 Polish households.

With Taciewo, RWE Innogy operates five onshore wind farms in Poland.

"Owing to the excellent Polish wind sites, we are on a good path and intend to continue our investments here," said Bunting.
