NEW ORLEANS, March 22 (UPI) -- Coast Guard authorities in New Orleans announced they've finished cleaning up an oil leak from a pipeline owned by Plains All American Pipeline.
The Coast Guard announced it received notification a pipeline owned by Plains All American dumped about 175 barrels of oil in the Barataria Bay in southeastern Louisiana early this week.
The agency said in a statement its New Orleans division set up around 29,000 feet of containment boom during its response effort. The Coast Guard, along with other state and local agencies, has successfully completed cleanup operations.
"A total of 2,800 gallons of oily liquids and 48 yards of oily sorbent debris have been recovered," the Coast Guard said in a statement. "There is no recoverable oil remaining."
The Coast Guard said there were no reports of the shoreline being impacted by the spill and no wildlife were soiled.
Plains All American didn't publish an official response regarding the incident. The Coast Guard said it was investigating what caused the pipeline rupture.
