BEIJING, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- A natural gas deal sign Monday between Russian gas monopoly Gazprom and Beijing includes everything but a price, an official said.
Gazprom chief Alexei Miller joined Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in Beijing to kick off a three-day visit to China. Miller signed a deal Monday with Jiang Zemin, the president of the Chinese National Petroleum Co., that extends the terms of Russian gas supplies to China, Russia's state-run news agency RIA Novosti reports.
Gazprom, under the deal, will supply China with 1.05 trillion cubic feet of gas per year beginning in 2015. Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko said the deal finalizes "all the main parameters except price."
Both sides in 2006 signed a memorandum of understanding on gas supplies in 2006, though the framework was delayed to 2009 because of price differences.
Gazprom official said a final "road map" on the gas contact was expected by July. Natural gas included in the deal will come from Siberia and the Far East.
