SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy, June 23 (UPI) -- Italian oil and gas company Eni said Wednesday that appraisals of a natural gas discovery off the coast of Indonesia were better than expected.
Eni said it appraised the Jangkrik gas discovery off the coast of Indonesia and encountered more than 260 feet of net gas pay.
"This result significantly increases the field estimate of recoverable resources, with respect to the discovery well," the company said in a Wednesday statement.
The company said the field during production tests produced "high-quality gas" at a rate of 17.5 million cubic feet per day.
Eni said that, along with its partners at French company GDF Suez, it plans to move quickly on assessing the technical and commercial viability of the find in order to route the gas to a liquefied natural gas plant.
