OSLO, Norway, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Norwegian energy company Eni Norge selected France-based Technip for work at the first Norwegian oil-producing field north of the Arctic Circle.
Eni Norge awarded Technip with a $300.4 million engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract for development of the Goliat field in the Barents Sea.
The Goliat field lies about 50 miles northeast of the city of Hammerfest on the Norwegian coast. The field contains both oil and gas in the Kobbe and Realgrunnen reservoirs.
The contract for Technip includes the supply and installation of pipeline systems in the field. Technip also installs subsea production systems for Eni Norge at Goliat.
This is the first major subsea Eni Norge contract for Technip. The company says it was selected for its technical and commercial aspects of the contract.
Work on the Goliat field is slated for three construction seasons beginning in 2011 and ending in 2013.
