LONDON, April 3 (UPI) -- Crude exports from the OPEC cartel, save Angola and Ecuador, are expected to decline by nearly 1 million barrels per day in April compared with the month prior.
Information from the British Oil Movement tanker tracking company shows exports from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries could fall to 22.15 million barrels per day in the four-week period ending April 18. That is a decline of 960,000 bpd compared with the previous four-week period, the Platts news service reports.
OPEC last year moved to control a spiraling decline in world oil prices by curbing production in a series of measures by a total of 4.2 million bpd. Oil prices in July had topped $147 before giving back more than $100 to settle at around $50 for several months.
Oil Movement data shows OPEC crude exports for the April reporting period were down 2.42 million bpd compared with 2008 data for the same period.
OPEC at its March meeting in Vienna opted for tighter control over production quotas rather than further production cuts.
