MOSCOW, March 20 (UPI) -- Russian and Nigerian leaders signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on peaceful nuclear development.

The agreement was signed by Rosatom Deputy General Director Nikolai Spassky and Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Agency Emmanuel Egbogah in Moscow, the Daily News Bulletin of Moscow reports.

The agreement calls for Russia's state-owned Rosatom to help the NNRA build out Nigeria's nuclear energy infrastructure. It also calls for research and work in licensing to design, build and operate nuclear energy and research reactors.

Also included is a partnership in exploring for uranium and developing uranium fields.
