DALI, China, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- China's Hongkong Electric has completed its first mainland wind power project.
The 48-megawatt wind farm was built in the city of Dali in China's southwest Yunnan province, XFN-Asia reported.
The wind farm is expected to enter commercial operations by early 2009, Hongkong Electric said in a statement.
The Dali project was jointly developed with Huaneng New Energy Industrial Co. Ltd., a local partner with Hongkong Electric.
Hongkong Electric owns 45 percent of the project, and Huaneng owns the remainder.
The farm has 64 wind turbines capable of generating 750 kilowatts each.
