BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Production from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli oil field complex in the Caspian Sea is up nearly 560,000 barrels per day, BP-Azerbaijan and state oil officials said.

BP and the Azerbaijan International Operating Co. said they were able to increase their production following repairs on a platform on ACG from a gas leak. AIOC said it was able to resume operations at some of the western platforms in the field, bringing production online from four of the five platforms there, the Azerbaijan Business Center reported Thursday.

Gregory Riley with BP-Azerbaijan said production from the complex was limited to around 560,000 barrels of oil per day, but he said he expected capacity to increase soon.

"Earlier the block could produce (840,000 barrels) to the max. At the same time there is a potential of increasing the production in future," he said.

Production was limited in September and staff were evacuated from platforms in the Caspian Sea when gas was discovered in surrounding waters.
