KIEV, Ukraine, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Ukraine will likely have more of its own nuclear fuel supplies starting in 2010.

The head of Ukraine's nuclear power generating company Enerhoatom, Yuriy Nedashkovskyy, told Russian news agency ITAR-TASS that the company is working with Russia's TVEL Corp. to coordinate an agreement on the supply of raw materials for nuclear power.

Nedashkovskyy said the two firms plan to have an agreement completed by the end of the year to begin supplying the materials after 2010.

Currently, Ukraine's uranium provides only about 30 percent of the country's demand. The goal is to have all of its own fuel for power plants by 2015.
