BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Oil production from Azerbaijan is not expected to drop below 280 million barrels per year until at least 2030 if technology permits, analysts said Monday.

Speaking to the Azeri news agency Today, Illham Shaban, an energy analyst at the Baku-Based Oil Research Center, said if advanced technologies are applied to the energy sector in Azerbaijan, production levels should remain steady.

Shaban credited the work of the estimated 64,000 workers employed by the State Oil Co. of Azerbaijan Republic with contributing to production levels. Though seven employees died in 2007, Shaban noted SOCAR is in the process of boosting available social services to its workers.

He said workers today make about twice the average annual salary as everyday Azeris, adding with revenue eclipsing $6.5 trillion in 2007, SOCAR has been able to secure a healthy workforce for the future.

He noted that production from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli field would remain about 1 million barrels of oil per day until at least 2019.
