AMMAN, Jordan, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- A minister from Jordan agreed to a $6 million wind power grant.

Suhair al-Ali, the planning and international cooperation minister, accepted the grant from the Global Environment Facility to use in support of Jordan's wind energy industry, the Jordan Times reported.

Ziad Badr, Jordan's World Bank director, signed the grant agreement on behalf of GEF. Jordan's wind project, led by the Ministry of Energy Resources, has a goal of building domestic capacity and infrastructure to increase renewable energy generation.

Half of the grant will be put toward crediting the companies that produce wind power, and the other half will go to technical development and a feasibility study.
