LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- U.S. computer maker Hewlett-Packard announced plans to reduce energy consumption.

The company said it will cut the energy use of its personal computers by 25 percent within two years, Computerworld reported.

To reach its goal, HP will integrate energy-saving technologies and processes, like more efficient power supplies and lower-energy chipsets. The company also plans on making the changes across its entire PC line.

The plans were announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which has feature more "green" gadgets than ever before -- a testament to the increasing focus on energy conservation and efficiency.

"HP, for decades, has been integrating environmentally responsible components and processes across the entire product lifecycle," said Todd Bradley, an executive vice president at HP.
