NEW DELHI, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- India has asked private hydrocarbons firms to follow safety practices in the oil and gas sectors.
M.S. Srinivasan, secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, emphasized the importance of safety in the operations undertaken in the oil and gas sectors.
Inaugurating a three-day Conference on Safety Competencies in Petroleum Refining, Petrochemicals and Gas Processing in New Delhi, he called upon the corporate undertakings to take no chances on the safety front and follow safety practices.
Srinivasan pointed out that more than 100 products are produced from crude oil and natural gas, the lifeblood for economic development.
"The rapid evolution of technological applications, in oil and gas sector in terms of products and processes, needs to be carefully handled so that operations remain safe as even a small incident in complex scientific operations could lead to entire plants coming to a halt," he said.
