New Turkmen gas terminal begins work

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- A new Iranian-built liquefied gas terminal in Turkmenistan began operations in Serhetabat, Turkmen TV reported.

The $3.5 million facility, which has a capacity of 1,200 cubic meters, allows the simultaneously loading and unloading of eight railway tanks and six propane-tank mounted trucks.

Turkmen TV reported that the facility’s six tanks, with a capacity of 200 cu m each, will facilitate increased volumes of Turkmen liquefied gas exports to its neighbors.

The country has proven natural gas reserves of 71 trillion cubic feet, according to the Oil and Gas Journal, putting it among the top 15 countries in terms of reserves.
