MANILA, Philippines, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Russia says the Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2 projects and the East Siberia-Pacific Ocean export pipeline will add to energy security in the Asia-Pacific region.
"We hope that launching the Sakhalin projects in full and completing the construction of the East Siberia-Pacific Ocean export pipeline will help ensure energy security in the Asia-Pacific region," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Thursday while speaking at the meeting of the ASEAN regional forum in Manila.
The comments were reported by the Interfax news agency.
ASEAN refers to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Lavrov also said that Russia was keen to establish cooperation with foreign partners in developing the oil and gas deposits in Siberia and the Russian Far East.
"Russia is prepared to share the work it has done so far on the alternative energy sources," he said.
He said Asia's increasing demand for energy resources can "only be resolved jointly."
