TORONTO, March 1 (UPI) -- Schneider Power Inc. announced recently four new wind farms for Ontario, adding to Canada's growing wind power market.

The leading Toronto-based owner and builder of renewable energy generation projects will spend $90 million dollars in capital to renovate and build new projects.

Three new 10 megawatt, low-impact wind farms will be built ant the Providence Bay/Spring Bay Wind Farm will be expanded to its full 11.6 megawatt capacity by end of 2008. In total, these four wind farms represent 41.6 megawatts of installed capacity and will produce 8.3 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually. That's estimated to be enough to power 11,000 homes.

"Today's announcement by the Province has given us the confidence to continue to make a strong commitment to renewable energy in Ontario," said Thomas Schneider, chief executive officer of Schneider Power Inc. "This is the next step in building on a proven growth strategy for our Company and it brings us closer to our goal of 500 megawatts installed across Canada by 2010 -- more than double our previous production capacity."
