Feb. 28, 2007 at 3:31 PM   |   Comments

HOUSTON, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Kinder Morgan Energy Partners will invest up to $100 million in developing biodiesel together with Green Earth Fuels.

The pipeline and oil terminal operating group said it aims to build up to 1.3 million barrels of tankage to produce 8 million barrels of biodiesel at its Houston, New Orleans, and New York harbor terminals. Production at the Houston ship channel is expected to begin in July.

Kinder Morgan also said it "significantly increased" its ethanol business, and expects that level to continue rising both for its terminals and pipeline businesses.
