Saudi Aramco announces new find

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, April 18 (UPI) -- Saudi Aramco announced Monday it has discovered a new gas field in Saudi territorial waters in the Arab Gulf.

The official Saudi Press Agency reported that Saudi Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Eng Ali al-Nu'aymi announced the find, saying that on April 15, gas flowed from the Qaran well.

The well is approximately 100 miles north of Dhahran, and produced an average of 40 million cubic feet per day of gas.

Following this latest discovery, the well's production capacity is expected to double to 80 million cubic feet per day.
