MOSCOW, April 13 (UPI) -- The head of Russia's atomic agency has said the nuclear sector will remain in state hands.
"There isn't any kind of privatization and there won't be," Sergey Kiriyenko, the head of the Federal Atomic Energy Agency, said Wednesday during a visit to the Volgodon nuclear power station.
The ITAR-TASS news agency reported that he said the auctioning of Rosenergoatom was being proposed, but privatization was not being discussed.
"And it will not be discussed," Kiriyenko said. "... Private investors don't have a direct opportunity to invest their money in the construction of nuclear power stations. In other words, this is 100-percent state property, and this is a task of state financing."
