Georgian energy exec charged with murder

TBILISI, Georgia, March 7 (UPI) -- A Georgian energy executive was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder, Georgia's Imedi TV reported.

Giorgi Gvichiani, head of Georgia's Tbilgazi gas distribution company, was arrested on suspicion of having ordered the 2002 killing of Nika Lominadze, the financial manager of Georgia's AES Telasi, a Tbilisi-based electricity distributor.

Following the arrest, Gvichiani was formally charged with murder. He attests his innocence.

Lominadze was shot in the head in his apartment in August 2002. At the time of the killing, Gvichiani was commercial director for AES Telasi.
