LONDON, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC announced Wednesday it received a $1.5 billion order for aircraft engines from China Eastern Airlines.

The Trent 700 engines, first installed on Airbus A330 planes, will power 15 China Eastern planes, a Rolls-Royce statement said. The airline currently operates 51 planes with the Trent 700 engine, and 20 larger Airbus planes with another Rolls-Royce engine, the Trent XWB.

Although the Rolls-Royce reputation is in luxury cars, the company has produced aircraft engines since 1915. Its current customers include more than 400 airlines and leasing companies, as well as 160 national armed forces.
