CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- U.S. and Canadian safety officials have ordered IKEA to recall two models of glass ceiling lamp shades after about 224 of them were reported crashing to the ground.

Some 840,000 of the items were bought in store or online from October 2012 through January 2016, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a news release.

The HYBY and LOCK models of IKEA's ceiling lamps are included in the recall and retail for $13 and $5 respectively. The HYBY is type number T1011 and the LOCK is type number T0201.

The products are recognizable by their "domed, white-frosted glass shades and three plastic clips that attach the shade to steel electrical lamp housings," a description from the CPSC says.

Consumers are urged to immediately remove the lamps and take them to any IKEA location for a full refund. No receipt is required.

No injuries from the crashes had been reported in the United States. The products were originally manufactured in China.

In a statement on its website, IKEA officials said, "We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. IKEA takes product safety very seriously. All our products are tested to and comply with applicable testing standards and legislation."
