Ford recalls Crown Victorias, Mercury Grand Marquis over headlight issue

DEARBORN, Mich., Dec. 23 (UPI) -- The Ford Motor Company issued a safety recall of 2003-2005 Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis models because of a possible headlight failure.

Solder joints in a lighting control module could crack and leave headlights without electrical power, a statement from the company Tuesday said.

Eleven accidents, and one minor injury, have been reported because of the module failure. About 312,000 vehicles could be affected by the recall.

Production of the Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis ended in 2012.

Ford also announced a safety recall of 177 Ford F-650 and F-750 trucks for a possible rear brake problem, a safety recall of 1,265 2015 Ford Transit models with a potential problem with fractured axle shafts and a safety compliance recall of about 3,200 2015 Ford F-150 SuperCrew trucks because of a possible seat belt tensioner issue. No accidents or injuries have been reported regarding the three potential problems.

In each case, parts will be replaced by Ford dealers at no cost to the vehicle owner. The issues only affect Ford models made and sold in North America.
