ATLANTA, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- CNN and other Turner-owned cable channels have disappeared from the Dish Network after a contractual dispute between the companies.

The two have been playing the blame game with Turner saying Dish has been "operating in a disruptive manner," Dish in turn said the cable giant was "making unreasonable financial demands."

Dish has said they no longer have permission to broadcast Turner channels. They said they failed to reach an agreement on a contract or an extension to keep the channels streaming.

"Dish has had a productive relationship with Turner Networks for many years," said Warren Schlichting, Dish's senior vice president of programming. "We regret the service disruption to our customers, and remain committed to reaching an agreement that promptly returns this content to Dish's programming lineup."

Dish, along with other cable and satellite television companies, are trying to cut programming costs due to customers complaining about high costs.

The trend of cord cutting -- customers canceling television services due to Internet access -- is also making paid services anxious to cut their cost for customers.

The missing Turner channels include CNN, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, CNN en Español, HLN, truTV and Turner Classic Movies.

"It's unfortunate that Dish is once again operating in a disruptive manner that takes away networks and programming from their customers," said Turner in statement. "We are hopeful our counterparts will return to the negotiating table, and [that] we'll get a deal completed."
