MENLO PARK, Calif., June 19 (UPI) -- Nightmare became reality early Thursday morning when Facebook experienced an outage that caused the social network's website, applications and mobile site to go offline.
"Sorry, something went wrong," read a message on the site early Thursday. "We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can." After about 30 minutes, Facebook was back.
During the outage, people who couldn't access Facebook headed over to rival network Twitter to vent, joke and even advertise using the hashtag #FacebookDown.

"Earlier this morning, we experienced an issue that prevented people from posting to Facebook for a brief period of time. We resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100 percent. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused," a Facebook spokesperson told CNET.
The reason for the outage is uncertain at this time.
