DETROIT, May 10 (UPI) -- Ford recalled some 700,000 vehicles Friday to fix defective air bags and door handles on the Escape and C-Max.
The company said a software problem could delay the release of airbags in a rollover accident in about 627,275 Escapes and 65,000 C-Max crossover vehicles from the 2013 and 2014 model years.
A second recall issued by Ford is for 692,500 Escapes for malfunctioning exterior door handles that can get stuck in the open position. The defect can cause the doors to get stuck in the open position, be tough to close or open while driving.
Ford said it's not aware of any injuries or accidents resulting from these defects.
Customers can bring the vehicles to a Ford dealership to have the issues fixed at no cost.
