Mazda recalls older SUVs for rust issue

Rust issue on older Mazda Tributes could cause subframe to become separated from lower control arm.

FUCHU, Japan, April 19 (UPI) -- A rust problem is prompting Mazda to recall 109,000 older-model Tribute sports-utility vehicles.

The problem in the 2001-04 model Tribute could cause a separation of the lower control arm from the vehicle's subframe.

To fix the problem, dealers will install a cross-brace reinforcement to the vehicles. A recall last month of the Ford Escape was prompted by the same problem.
