The new look will have new fonts and larger pictures along the entire News Feed, and is a watered-down version of the redesign it had proposed last year, which took effect only for a small number of users before being abandoned. This new update will be an alternative version to that abandoned redesign.
The new design also tweaks some of the icons on the Update Status and the Add Photos/Video tabs across the top, and has larger buttons for the People You May Know section. Facebook says that based on the feedback they got, people liked bigger images, but that the abandoned design was difficult to navigate. So Facebook has retained the navigation and added larger pictures and a new font.
Facebook has also maintained how content and ads are featured on the new design.
"As a marketer on Facebook, you don’t need to take any action. Requirements for creative specs and image aspect ratios for ads have not changed. Also, this update does not affect how you buy and optimize ads. You should continue to advertise based on your objectives," said Facebook, in a post.
