WASHINGTON, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of about 1,400 U.S. Polo Association girls' jackets due to a strangulation hazard.
The jackets have the name "U.S. Polo Assn." with the year 1890 and crossed polo mallets on the upper right exterior. There also is a silhouette of two polo players and the initials USPA on the jacket's upper left exterior.
The commission said in a release Thursday the jackets were imported from China and sold at Burlington Coat Factory, Kids Stop and Cookie's Department stores from August to October for about $15 apiece.
The jackets were sold in fuchsia, green and cream colors and in girls' sizes 4-16.
While the jackets had not caused any injuries, the commission said, they have a band of material at the neck that can increase the risk of strangulation to a young child.
Consumers were advised to remove or cut the band to eliminate the hazard. Consumers can also contact Q4 Designs for a full refund.
