Porsche says pull over to owners of 911 GT3, model year 2014

ATLANTA, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- German automaker Porsche said all owners of 2014 model 911 GT3 vehicles should park their cars and have them towed to a dealership for an engine inspection.

"Porsche is informing the owners ... to stop using their vehicles," the company said, pledging that the company will come and pick up the cars "immediately" after engine damage occurred in two vehicles, which then caught fire, the company said.

Both incidents were in Europe, but the company "decided to inspect all 785 delivered vehicles worldwide."

Porsche said there have been no traffic accidents and no injuries, and the company appears it would prefer things to remain that way. "Safety is a No. 1 priority," Porsche said, "and the company takes its responsibility seriously."

The recall was issued in the United States by Porsche Cars North America Inc. of Atlanta.
