Crude oil slips under $96 per barrel

NEW YORK, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices slid under $96 per barrel in New York Monday as equities retreated on Wall Street for the third consecutive session.

Light, sweet West Texas Intermediate crude on the New York Mercantile Exchange gave up 83 cents to hit $95.81 per barrel.

Gasoline dropped 2.82 cents to reach $2.635 a gallon.

Home heating oil shed 3.46 cents to settle at $3.1028 a gallon.

Natural gas shed 25 cents to wind up at $4.94 per million British thermal units.

The national average price of unleaded regular gasoline dropped to $3.282 per gallon from Sunday's $3.285, the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report said.
