WASHINGTON, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- U.S. product regulators announced a voluntary recall of about 1,900 Midwest-CBK baby rattles due to the possibility of an infant choking.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the donut-shaped polyester knit fabric rattles are made to resemble bears, monkeys or lions, but the heads can detach from the rattle, possibly choking a young child.
The rings of the rattles are about 7 inches in diameter. The words "Sweet-ums" and Midwest-CBK are printed on a tag attached to the rattle.
The rattles were sold at gift shops nationwide from July 2013 through December 2013 for about $10.
They were made in China and imported by Midwest-CBK of Cannon Falls, Minn.
Consumers were advised to take the rattles away from young children and contact Midwest-CBK for a refund.
