WASHINGTON, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Hewlett-Packard said Monday it was negotiating settlements with U.S. regulators concerning bribery allegedly made to secure a contact in Russia.

The technology giant said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing that the SEC and the Justice Department were investigating alleged payments of millions of dollars to secure a $48.3 million contract that started in 2001 and continued to 2006, the Wall Street Journal reported.

HP also said that authorities in Mexico and Poland were investigating bribery allegations related to contracts with public sector agencies in those countries.
