TUNIS, Tunisia, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Private Tunisian airline Syphax is beginning direct flights between Tunis and Montreal next year, an airline official said.

"It's a first in Tunisia," Syphax Airlines general manager Mohamed Frikha said in an interview with Tunisia's Express FM Wednesday.

The weekly roundtrip air service -- both regular and charter -- is set to begin in April.

Frikha said Syphax plans to open an office in Canada and is looking forward to operating flights between Tunis and Beijing, in the future.
