Nantucket Distributing recalls outdoor fireplaces

WASHINGTON, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Middleboro, Mass., importer Nantucket Distributing is recalling 1,200 clay and steel outdoor fireplaces after reports of clay popping off of the structure.

The bowl-shaped fireplaces were imported from China and sold at Christmas Tree Shops and And That! stores from July 2013 through October 2013 for about $70, the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission said in a release.

The fireplaces are made of a black metal bowl that sits in a decorative clay bowl, which is held up by a steel frame.

The fireplaces measure 72 inches in circumference and stand two feet high.

The fireplaces were sold with a screened, domed lid that sits on the bowl. They were also sold with a fire poker, the commission said.

Consumers were advised to stop using the fireplaces and return them to any Christmas Tree Shops or And That! outlets for a full refund.

Consumers can call 888-287-3232 for information.
