Crude oil slips closer to $98 Tuesday

NEW YORK, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- The price of crude oil dropped closer to $98 per barrel in New York Tuesday after a mixed batch of economic reports.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange, West Texas Intermediate crude dropped 45 cents to reach $98.23 per barrel. Home heating oil shed 0.36 cents to reach $2.9608 a gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline lost 2.61 cents reach $2.6048 a gallon.

Natural gas shed 7 cent to settle at $3.50 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the national average price of unleaded gasoline dropped to $3.278 per gallon from Monday's $3.385, the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report said.
