Crude oil hovers near $97

NEW YORK, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices held close to $97 per barrel Thursday morning in New York.

Prices have been under pressure since the Energy Information Administration said domestic stockpiles remained in the upper range for this time of year.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange, West Texas Intermediate crude oil added 6 cents $96.92 per barrel. Reformulated blendstock gasoline prices gained shed 0.8 cents to $2.5603 per gallon. Home heating oil added 0.07 cents to $2.924 per gallon. Natural gas was off 3 cents to $3.59 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the national average price of unleaded gasoline dropped to $3.329 per gallon from Wednesday's $3.339, AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report said.
